• 우아한 육체 The Exquisite Corpus

  한 쌍의 남, 녀가 배를 타고 바다로 나선다. 그들이 도착한 해변에 한 여자가 잠들어 있다. 이제 우리는 필름에 가해진 물리적 작업으로 표현되는 화면의 흔들림을 따라 관능적이고 황홀하고 끔직한 그녀의 꿈속으로 들어간다. 초현실주의자들의 ‘우아한 시체’기법을 통해 필름에 인화된 인간의 육체는 물론 필름 자체의 신체를 다룬 영화로 실험영화계의 거장인 피터 체르카스키가 만든 파운드 푸티지 영화의 절정을 볼 수 있는 작품이다. (이상훈)

   

  무시무시한 계곡 Uncanny Valley 

  파울 베닝어/ 2015/ Austria, France /13'30" /청불 /DCP

  시간의 흐름 속에 박제된 희미해진 전쟁의 참상과 무의미함을 극 사실적으로 표현한 작품으로 “참호전’’으로 유명한 제1차 세계대전의 한복판에서 전쟁의 음산한 그림자가 전선의 군인들에게 어떻게 드리워졌는지를 보여준다. 애니메이션이라는 방식이 실사보다 오히려 더욱 죽음 앞에 선 인간의 고통과 절망을 효과적으로 표현한 작품으로 관객의 눈 앞에 생생한 지옥의 풍경이 고스란히 펼쳐져 전달되는 듯하다. 전쟁이라는 것이 영광이나 숭고한 그 무엇이 아니라 용납되어서는 안 되는 것임을 효과적으로 전달하는 작품이다. (이상훈)

   

  빈티지 프린트 Vintage Print 

  지그프리드 에이. 프르아우프 /2015/ Austria/ 13' /청불 /DCP

  지난 세기의 유물인듯한 흑백의 이미지가 눈 앞에 나타난다. 귀뚜라미 울음소리의 리듬에 맞춰 변화하는 사진 필름 속 풍경은 앞과 뒤로 계속 움직인다. 점점 변화하는 이미지는 보는 이로 하여금 현기증을 유발하지만 역설적이게도 정신의 평안한 상태를 불러일으킨다. 영화는 사진, 영화 그리고 디지털 이미지 세 요소로 구성된다. 이 삼위일체는 만들어진 연대순으로 세상에 대한 인간의 인식을 변화시켜왔다. 관객은 이 영화에서 150년 동안의 역사가 하나씩 순서를 맞춰 함축적으로 표현되는 것을 발견할 수 있다. (이상훈)

   

  비어 있는 Absent

  스페인, 볼리비아, 멕시코, 보스니아 헤르체고비나, 크로아티아, 독일에 있는 대도시들의 버려진 장소들과 그 곳들에 버려진 여러 가지 물건들이 다시 어떤 생명성을 찾고 살아나는 것을 표현하고 있다. 우리가 마치 자신의 인형이나 물건과 같은 주변의 사물들에 어떤 생명성이 깃들어 있다고 생각하던 어린 시절의 생각을 구체적으로 개념화 시킨 작품으로 스톱모션 애니메이션으로 만든 실험영화이며, 감독의 연작 <재생처리기>(2012)의 한 부분을 이루고 있는 작품이다. (이상훈)

   

  THE, THE 

  빌리 로이즈, 디에터 코바시치/ 2015/ Austria /13'/ 청불/ DCP

  공포영화는 무엇으로 그리고 어떻게 공포, 불안, 초조와 같은 감정을 자극하는지에 대한 탐구이며 특히 원인을 알기 힘든 불안감이라는 감정에 초점을 맞춘 작품이다. 실제 촬영 영상과 디지털과 아날로그로 생성된 이미지의 움직임 그리고 음악과 소리들로 인해 관객의 불안감은 증폭되어 이윽고 각 개인의 모호한 기억과 연결된 이미지들이 발작적으로 솟아난다. 눈 앞의 화면이 공포의 원인이 아니라 마치 화면 스스로가 공포를 느끼는 주체가 된 것을 보게 된다. (이상훈

  마르쿠스 쉐러 /201/3 Austria/ 4'/ 청불/ HD

  아무런 소리도 나지 않는 화면은 마치 눈 앞의 이미지가 영화 이미지가 아니라 마치 컬러로 된 오래된 사진을 카메라로 찍은 사진 이미지라는 생각을 갖게 만들다. 점점 우리는 움직이지 않는 눈이 쌓인 높은 산을 보는 것에서 시작하여 나아가 자연에 대한 경외감에 산의 신비로움에 빠져든다. 시간이 지날 수록 우리는 정지된 화면 속 그림 같은 산의 이곳 저곳을 자세히 살펴보기 시작할 때쯤 갑자기 어떤 일이 벌어진다. (이상훈)

   

  이 벽은 도널드 저드가 만들었다 These Walls Were Built by Donald Judd (One Chapter, in Texas) 

  사샤 피어커 /2015/ Austria /6' /청불/ DCP

  이 벽들은 도널드 저드가 만들었어요”라는 남자의 목소리로 영화는 시작된다. 영화는 감독의 질문에 따라 공간을 설명하는 이 남자의 목소리와 공간의 여러 곳을 탐험하는 감독의 카메라에 의해, 또한 감독이 직접 촬영되는 화면에 의해 교차되며 진행된다. 감독은 미니멀리즘을 대표하는 미국 작가 도널드 저드가 1970년대 후반 기존에 있던 푸줏간을 예술공간으로 변모시킨 텍사스 한 건물의 여러 가지 차원을 시간이라는 유리를 통해 탐구한다. (이상훈)

  Billy Roisz (b. 1967, Vienna) is a leading Austrian cinematic experimenter. She has gained a name for her ability to combine experimental music with images that tenaciously lodge themselves in the memory. She is the co-organizer of the REHEAT festival. <br><br> Dieter Kovacic (b. 1973, Vienna) is known mainly as a musician. Since the 1980s he has been transforming cassette players and hard disks into musical instruments, performing live under a variety of pseudonyms.

  Born in Austria 1974, lives in Berlin as an animation artist and sound designer. Her films have participated at several international film festivals and exhibitions.   Born in Grieskirchen (Upper Austria) in 1976 and grown up in the small village of Heiligenberg (Upper Austria). 1991 – 1994 Training as commercial manager. Studied experimental visual design at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz where he first came into contact with the Austrian Film Avantgarde. From 1995 to 2010 he lived and worked in Linz and Heiligenberg. 2002 Supporting Award for Filmart by the Austrian Federal Chancellery. Since 2001 organization of film and art events. Since 2009 lecturere at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design, Linz. Numerous works and shows in the area of film, video and fotography. Participation in various important international film festivals (Festival de Cannes - Semaine Internationale de la Critique, Intenational Filmfestival of Venice - Section Nuovi Territori, Sundance Film Festival Park City, ...). Member of sixpackfilm. Has a son (Jonas Theodor) with the Austrian journalist Anna Katharina Laggner.   파울 베닝어(Paul Wenninger)
  Born 1966 in Vienna. Freelance dancer, author of choregraphical pieces, and film maker with a focus on pixilation and animation. Since 1999 he is the artistic director of Kabinett ad Co., a working platform for interdisciplinary projects with a focus on the body. Collaborations with various choreographers and companies, e.g. in France with Cie. Catherine Diverrès at Centre Choreographique National de Rennes et Bretagne.   피터 체르카스키(Peter Tscherkassky)
  Born in 1958 in Vienna, Austria. Lived in Berlin 1979-84. Studied philosophy. Doctoral thesis: "Film as Art. Towards a Critical Aesthetics of Cinematography" (1985/86). Founding member of Sixpack Film. Organized several international avant-garde film festivals in Vienna and film tours abroad. Since 1984 numerous publications and lectures on the history and theory of avant-garde film. 1993 and 1994 artistic director of the annual Austrian film festival "Diagonale". Editor of the book "Peter Kubelka" (1995; with Gabriele Jutz) and "Film Unframed. A History of Austrian Avant-Garde Cinema" (2012). Films since 1979. Recent book: Alexander Horwath, Michael Loebenstein (Ed.), „Peter Tscherkassky“ (germ./engl.; Vienna 2005).
