   1991년 걸프전, 이라크 병사 이브라힘은 군대가 후퇴할 당시 쿠웨이트에서 탈출했다. 후세인 정권과 미군의 눈을 피해 집으로 돌아가는 방법은 사막을 가로지르는 위험천만한 여정 뿐. 결국 공화국 수비대에 붙잡힌 그는 반란군이라는 누명을 쓰고 감옥에 갇히고 만다. 하지만 이브라힘의 운명은 이대로 끝이 아니었다. 감옥 밖에서 사람들이 일으킨 반란은 갇혀있는 이들에게도 자유라는 희망을 불어넣었던 것. 이후 2013년, 과거에 대한 답을 찾기 위해 영화의 감독은 반란의 생존자 세 명과 마주한다. 비밀을 간직한 사진작가, 잊기 위해 고통을 감춘 농부, 그리고 인간성을 잔인하게 빼앗긴 전 수감자. 감독은 이들의 비극적인 비밀을 풀어가며 이브라힘의 여정 이면에 숨겨진 사실을 밝혀내고자 한다. 과거와 현재, 허구와 사실을 넘나들며 영화는 바빌론의 킬링필드에서 일어난 사건을 재조명한다. 과연 반란이 사담 후세인의 끔찍한 범죄행위를 종식시키고 모두에게 자유를 줄 수 있을까?
  1991 Gulf War: Ibrahim, an Iraqi soldier has escaped from Kuwait as the army retreats. He now faces the dangerous journey home with only one path: across the southern desert, the no-man’s-land between Saddam’s Regime and the American intervention. With no place to hide, he is soon captured by the Republican Guard and cast into Saddam’s infamous prisons, suspected of being a traitor. But as Ibrahim’s fate seems written, the Iraqi people are uprising beyond the prison walls, instilling hope in those held captive, that the freedom they long for beckons. 2013: In search of answers about the past, the Director of the film confronts three survivors of the uprising. Through the past and the present, fiction and reality, he revisits a fateful climax in the killing fields of Babylon. Will the uprising end the heinous crimes of Saddam Hussein and finally set them all free?

  2005년 Human Film을 창립, 첫 장편 <아흐람>(2003)은 125개가 넘는 영화제에서 상영되었고, 23개의 상을 수상하였다. 두 번째 장편 영화인 <바빌론의 아들>(2010)은 선댄스영화제와 베를린국제영화제 등에서 상영되었으며, 30여개의 상을 수상했다. 그는 2010년 토론토국제영화제에서 상영된 <엄마 품에서>로 미국의 버라이어티 잡지에서 선정한 올해의 중동 영화감독으로 뽑히기도 하였다. 그의 다섯 번째 장편영화 <바빌론의 모래>(2013)는 아부다비국제영화제에서 최초로 상영되어 최우수 장편영화상을 받았다. </br> In 2005, he co-founded Human Film and began production on his first feature film, Ahlaam (2003); screened at over 125 Film Festivals and receiving over 23 awards. His second feature film, Son of Babylon (2010), that went on to screen at Sundance Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival, receiving 30 more awards. In 2010, he received named Variety’s Middle Eastern Filmmaker of the year when his documentary In My Mother’s Arms that premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. In The Sands of Babylon (2013) premiered at the Abu-Dhabi Film Festival, winning the award for best narrative feature from the Arab world.
