  Synopsis
  This is a short film about the offering of condolences.

   

  연출 의도
  나는 5년 전 한 교통사고를 목격했다. 중국어로 “기념비”와 “슬픔”의 발음은 같다. 나는 이 짧은 영화를 작은 기념비로 만들고자 한다.

  Director’s Statement
  I was among the witnesses of a traffic accident five years ago. In Chinese, "monument" and "sadness" have the same pronunciation. I'd like to make this short film as a small monument.

   

  작품소개
  불의의 사고로 가족을 잃은 할머니를 위로하기 위해 정치인, 스님, 이웃, 방송국 기자 등이 장례식장을 방문한다. 그리고 카메라는 그 풍경을 미동의 움직임도 없이 멀리서 조용히 지켜본다.
  About Film
  Burial rites become the mise-en-scene in which politicians, a monk, neighbours and the media visit an old woman who lost her family in an accident. Cameras are fixed and watch what happens from the distance.

  잉 량 YING Liang

  1977년 중국 상하이 출생. 베이징대학과 중경영화아카데미에서 연출을 공부했다. <아버지를 찾아서>(2005), <다른반쪽>(2006), <호묘>(2008), <난 레이커스가 좋아>(2008), <약>(2009), <아직 할 말이 남았지만>(2012) 등 다수의 장· 단편을 연출했으며, 스위스 로카르노 국제영화제 감독상을 비롯하여, 전주국제영화제 우석상, 도쿄필름엑스 심사위원 특별상, 브리즈번국제영화제 국제비평가협회상 등 세계 유명 영화제에서 수상한 바 있다.

  Born in Shanghai, China, in 1977. Studied directing at Beijing University and Chongqing Film Academy. YING Liang has directed many feature & short films including <Taking Father Home>(2005), <The Other Half>(2006), <Good Cats>(2008), <I love Lakers>(2008), <Medicine>(2009), and <Wo Hai You Hua Yao Shuo>(2012). He is a award winner at many famous film festivals such as Locarno International Film Festival in Swiss, JIFF, Tokyo Film X, Brisbane International Film Festival, etc.

  19세 소녀 릴리는 자신의 고향인 베트남 근처의 작은 바닷가 마을 베이하이을 방문한다. 그러나 예기치 못한 8급 태풍 “손띤(마운틴 스피릿)” 때문에 집으로 돌아가지 못한다. 릴리는 어린 시절 친구인 호위를 찾아가지만, 그 역시 문제를 안고 있다. 그들은 신비한 맹그로브 숲으로 함께 여행을 떠난다. 태풍이 지나가고 비밀이 밝혀지는데... 

  Synopsis
  19-year-old Lily returns to her seaside hometown Beihai, a city neighboring Vietnam. The unexpected sudden arrival of a level-eight typhoon named “Mountain Spirit” delays her departure from the village. Lily runs into her childhood classmate Howe, who is himself possessed by his own troubles. They journey into a mysterious mangrove forest. The typhoon ends, and a secret emerges…
   
  연출 의도
  나의 첫 단편영화 주인공은 바다로 가기를 원했었다. 그래서 내 두 번째 영화는 해변도시의 정경과 바다의 변하는 모습을 배경으로 하고 싶었다. 촬영 도중에, 8급 태풍 “손띤(마운틴 스피릿)”이 예기치 않게 몰아닥쳤다. 이러한 호기를 이용하기 위해 대본을 수정하여 변화하는 사실적 상황을 이용해서 5일 만에 영화를 완성했다. 주인공 소녀는 내면의 혼란을 숨길 수 있었지만 그녀가 가는 곳 마다 폭풍과 큰 해일이 따라다녔고 결국 바람과 태풍이 가라앉자 다른 바다로 건너갈 수 있었다. 이것은 나의 비밀스런 희망이다.  

  Director’s Statement
  In my first short film, the protagonist wanted to go to the ocean. Thus, I had the desire to set my second film in the sceneries of a coastal city and the changing landscapes of the sea. In the middle of the shooting, a level-eight typhoon name "Son-Tinh (Mountain Spirit)" arrived unexpectedly. I took advantage of this element, modified the script as we went along, and created a film with the changing reality in 5 days. The girl might have hidden her inner turmoil, but wherever she went, stormy weather and tidal waves seemed to accompany her. In the end, as wind and storm subside, she would traverse from this sea to another sea. This is my secret hope.

  19세의 소녀 릴리는 자신의 고향인 베트남 근처의 작은 마을 베이하이에서 예전에는 느껴보지 못했던 전혀 새로운 감각적인 경험들을 하게 된다. 시각보다는 청각, 청각보다는 촉각을 자극하는 감각적인 영화

  About Film
  A nineteen-year-old girl, Lily, visits her home town of Beihai close to the Vietnamese border and has entirely new sensory experience that she never had. This is a  sensual movie stimulating your sense of touch rather than hearing and sight.

   

  감독소개

  저우 옌 ZHOU Yan

  저우 옌 감독은 중국 북부에 위치한 장자커우에서 태어나 남부 쑤저우에서 자랐다. 북경전영학원에서 석사학위를 받고 베를린국제영화제 탈렌트 캠퍼스 2007에 참여했다. 지아장커 감독의 스크립터와 조연출로 활동했으며 2012년 영화 <위험한 관계>의 로케이션 작가로 참여했다.

  희망의 철로 Railroad of hope

  시놉시스
  매년 8월과 9월, 수천 명의 농업 노동자들이 기차를 타고 사천을 출발해 3,000 Km 이상 되는 긴 여행을 떠난다. 2박 3일이나 걸려 중국 서쪽의 끝 신장 자치지구로 떠나는 것이다. 이 지역은 수확을 기다리고 있는 목화밭이 끝없이 펼쳐져 있다. 대부분의 사람들은 처음으로 고향을 떠났을 뿐 아니라 기차 또한 처음 타보는 것이다. 가난한 중국 농부들이 이야기하는 진솔한 그들의 삶에 대한 이야기.

  Synopsis
  Every year during August and September several thousands of agricultural workers leave Sichuan by train for a long journey of more than 3000 Km, lasting three days and two nights, towards China’s far-west: Xinjiang Autonomous Region, where endless cotton fields are awaiting for the harvest.  For most of them it’s the first time away from the native villages, as well as the first time on a train. Probably for the first time ever, you can listen to Chinese peasants from poor interior regions speaking openly and sincerely about their lives.
   
  연출 의도
  1년 전 중국을 횡단하는 기차를 타고 긴 여행을 하기로 결심했다. 여행하는 동안 우리 시대 최대의 민족 대이동이라 할 만한 농부들의 대규모 이주는 나의 관심을 끌었다. 그들과의 대화하면서 정말 놀라웠던 점은 이들 대부분이 처음으로 기차를 탔다는 사실이며 이러한 선택이 경제적 필요 때문만이 아니라 새로운 세계를 발견하고 자신의 한계를 넓히고자 하는 바람에서였다는 것이다.   
  Director’s Statement
  About one year ago I decided to make a long trip by train across China. During the trip my interest soon began to focus on the masses of peasants undertaking one of the great adventures of our times, internal migration. Talking with them, what really surprised me is that most of these people, who have never seen a train before, are driven not just by economic need, as we always thought, but rather by the desire to broaden their horizons and  to discover a new world.

  중국 사천 지방 농부들은 매년 8,9월이 되면 신장 자치구를 향해 2박3일간의 기나긴 기차여행길에 오른다. 감독은 그 이유를 알기 위해 그들과 함께 동승한다.

  About Film
  Chinese migrant agricultural workers travel over three days and two nights from Sichuan to Xinjiang autonomous Region every August and September. Director followed the mass migration to find out the reason.
