  시놉시스
  실업자인 한 남자의 일상을 그린 작품. 시골에서 올라와 자취하는 한 청년이 매일 구직란을 뒤져가며 취직하려 애쓴다. 소위 백수인 그는 하숙집 딸을 짝사랑하지만 소심해 말도 못하고 쩔쩔 맨다. 일자리는 번번이 구하지 못한다. 그러던 어느 날 공원에서 한 술 취한 청년이 떨어뜨린 지갑을 주워 달려가다 하숙집 딸과 마주치게 되고 그녀와 카페에 가서 지갑을 펼쳐보게 되는데...
  Synopsis
  This movie portrays an unemployed man's daily life. A young man, coming from countryside and living alone, tries to get a job searching through job opening sections in the newspaper. This jobless man has a crush on a daughter of boarding house's owner, but he is too timid to confess his love to her. Getting a job is still hard for him. Then, one day he picks up a wallet which a drunken guy has dropped in the park and happen to meet her. They go to a cafe and open the wallet together.       

   

  작품소개
  취업에 관련된 젊은이의 불안감과 그 불안감에서 비롯된 헛된 희망을 표현한 작품으로 영화의 초반부에 가위와 칼을 통해 관객에게 이후의 사건에 대한 실마리와 분위기를 던져 주고 다음으로는 연속된 횡재를 통해 주인공과 관객에게 헛된 희망을 주다가 곧 바로 깨며 결국은 절망으로 결론짓는 방식으로 이야기가 진행된다. 유머가 가득한 무성영화를 연상시키는  방식의 연출로 영화가 이야기하고 있는 세계인 1980년대의 한국사회는 희망이 없는 암울한 곳이다.

  About Film
  This film expresses a young man's anxiety related to getting a job and the vain hope stemming from that anxiety. Scissors and knife at the beginning of the movie give a clue but from the next scene, consecutive windfall gives a vain hope to the main character and audience. In the end, the hope was utterly shattered. Korean society in the 1980s is depicted as hopeless dismal place in this film but the directing itself is full of humor and reminds silent film.

  1990년대 초의 서울의 한 대학, 특집기사 마감이 얼마 남지 않은 학보사 기자는 새로운 기사를 찾기 위해 동분서주한다. 그는 한 빈민가에서 시골에서 올라온 20대 초반의 한 여자를 만나게 되고 파국으로 끝난 그녀와 어떤 서울대생의 슬픈 사랑 이야기를 듣게 된다. 독재의 시대에 꽃잎처럼 쓰러져간 젊은 청춘들의 이야기를...

  Synopsis
  In the early 1990s, at a university in Seoul, a school newspaper reporter is busy searching for new articles to meet the deadline. He meets a woman in a slum who is in her early 20s coming from countryside. He is told a sad love story between her and a student of Seoul National University that ended in failure. The story of young people having fallen like petals of flower in the era of the dictatorship.   
   
  작품소개
  영화가 역사의 기록이며 나아가 시대를 품고 가는 것이라면 이 작품이야 말로 시대의 흔적이 직접적으로 남아 있는 작품이다. 멀지 않는 과거 그 독재의 시대에 사라진 두 남녀의 이야기로 도시로 유학 간 정의로운 청년과 그 남자를 지고지순하게 기다리는 소녀, 이 두 사람의 꿈이 시대에 의해 산산이 부서진다. 지극히 개인적인 두 사람의 풋풋한 사랑이 사회와 역사의 개입에 의해 어떻게 파국을 맞는 지를 보여준다. 시대의 모습을 직접적으로 보여주는 영상과 음향 그리고 국악을 이용한 음악의 사용이 매우 강렬하며 후반부 여자의 환상인 듯 아니며 남자가 실제로 겪은 일인 듯 보이는 장면들의 빠른 편집으로 이루어진 씬은 특히 강렬하다. 개인의 삶이 역사와 사회를 벗어나서 과연 가능한 것 인가? 라는 질문을 던지는 마치 먼지 속에 숨겨진 보물을 우연히 발견한 느낌을 주는 영화다.

  About Film
  If you say films are records of the history and even embrace the era, it is this film that traces of the era has been left in. This is a story about a man and a woman who disappears in the era of totalitarian military government that is the very recent past in Korea. The young man has gone to the city to study and the woman has been waiting for him patiently. But their dreams are shattered by the era. This film shows how their pure and personal love is broken down by the intervention of society and history. Images and sound directly showing that age and Korean traditional sound are very strong. Above all, the latter scenes that seem like his real experience whether her illusion or not are edited by fast cut and they leave especially intensive impression. The movie gives a feeling like discovering a hidden treasure in the dust accidentally, and seems to ask a question whether individual's life is possible outside history and society.

  시놉시스
  커다란 건물 사이에 끼어 있는 담배 가게를 생활공간으로 하는 두 노인의 이야기. 기타를 치며 악사로 살아 온 할아버지와 담배 가게 안에서 버스표, 복권을 팔며 또 도장을 새기는 할아버지. 기타 치는 악사 할아버지는 공원과 토큰 판매소를 오가며 일자리 소식을 기다린다. 도장 할아버지의 아들은 토큰 판매소를 팔라고 성화지만 그곳은 두 사람의 소중한 공간이다.

  Synopsis
  It's a story about two old men who are living in a cigar shop where is sandwiched between tall buildings. One has lived as a musician playing guitar, and the other sells bus tickets and lotteries and engraves seals in the shop. The musician man is waiting for job information shuttling between a park and the token shop. The seal man's son  keeps insisting that he should sell the shop which is a valuable space for them.

  공원의 노인들, 거리의 화가 그리고 담배 가게 안의 사람들같이 우리가 자주 마주치면서도 전혀 주의를 기울이거나 유심히 보지 않는 것들이 있다. 마치 다큐멘터리와 같은 연출방식과 촬영을 통해 인물의 일상적인 모습을 포착한다. 작은 구멍 속 좁은 방안에서 일하는 두 사람의 늙은 노인의 삶을 통해 오래된 라디오, 중고 텔레비전처럼 이제는 쓸모가 다한 것으로 여겨지고 더 이상 아무 가치가 없는 것 같지만 사실은 여전히 삶을 사는 인간의 모습을 이야기한다.

  About Film
  There are things we don't pay attention at all although we see them often, just like the elderly in the park, street painters, and tobacconists. This film captures everyday life of two persons by shooting it as if it were a documentary. By showing the two elderly who work in a small room seen through a little window, this film tells you a person seemingly worthless is still doing their job, like an old radio and television.
