  시놉시스
  동거했던 남자와의 아이를 가진 여자, 혜진. 남자의 집으로 찾아간다.
  늦은 밤 찾아와 아무 말 없이 문 앞에 서 있는 그녀를 쉽게 내치지 못하는 남자, 현우.
  현우는 혜진과 뜻밖의 하루를 보낸다.
  그 하루, 혜진은 현우의 집에서 자신의 마음을 정리한다.
  Synopsis
  Hye-jin, became pregnant with her ex-boyfriend, and visits his house.
  Hyeon-woo cannot send away the wordless girl standing at the front door on a late night, and spends an unexpected night with Hae-jin.
  Hye-jin sorts out her feelings that night while staying at Hyeon-woo's house.

   

  연출의도

  서로 엇갈리는 청춘의 이야기를 차분하게 하고 싶었다. 그래서 우리 젊은 세대들이 한 번쯤 생각해 봤을 만한 공감할 수 있는 이야기를 찾았다.
  비단, 영화가 주는 감성이 혜진이 여자이기에 겪어야 하는 외로움일 뿐만 아니라, 20대를 통과하는 이들이 느끼는 감정으로 확대 해석되었으면 한다.

  Director’s Statement
  I wanted to calmly draw a story of a conflicting youth. That is how I found a story that our young teenagers could one feel some sympathy.
  This is not a movie where Hae-jin feels loneliness just because of the reason that she is a girl, which is why  I wish this movie cane be broadly interpreted as the emotion of the ones going through their 20's.

  한바탕 시원하게 터뜨려 울 수도 없을 만큼 먹먹한 상황에 놓였을 때, 한 그릇의 따뜻한 밥이 우리의 삶에 얼마나 큰 위안이 되었던가를 기억한다.
  누군가에게 정성이 가득한 밥상을 차려준다는 행위는 상대에게 표현할 수 있는 가장 따뜻한 배려이며, 밥상을 받는 이에게도 커다란 치유의 의미가 될 것이다.
  그래, 한 그릇 든든하게 먹고 나서야, 다시 고민할 수 있는 기운이 생길 것 아닌가?
  직접적인 표현이 없어도 등장인물들은 각자의 위치에서 서로에 대한 배려와 마음들을 표현하였고, 그것을 차분하고 담백하게 관조하는 카메라의 시선도 좋다.

  When we are in so suffocating situation that we can't cry out in the open, we remember how comforting a bowl of hot soup was.
  If you prepare warm meal for someone, it is the most warm and caring consideration you can express. The person who get that meal is sure to get healed from it.
  Even the act of worrying also need energy from meal, isn't it?
  Without directive expressions, the characters expresses their mind and consideration for each others. Most of all, the way camera just contemplates calmly and openly is the best.

  한 남자가 형편없는 수단으로 잃어버린 기억을 추억하고 있다.
  엄마의 마지막 날에 대한 기억.
  지나버린 순간들을 만들어내기 위한 필사적인 노력으로 물체들이 생명을 얻게 된다.
  Synopsis
  A man recreates, with poor means, a lost memory.
  A memory of the last day with his Mom.
  Objects comes to life, in a desperate struggle, to produce one moment that was gone.

   

  연출의도
  이 단편영화는 개인적 기억에 바탕을 두고 있다. 이 영화에서 나는 영화예술의 한계를 탐구하려했다. “Objects-theater”기술과 다큐멘터리 영상을 혼합하여 삶과 죽음 사이, 기억과 망각의 사이에 놓인 희미한 선을 건드려보고 싶었다. 
  Director’s Statement
  This short film is based on a personal memory. In this film I tried to explore the limits of the film art. With combination of “Objects-theater” technique and documentary footage, I wanted to touch the thin line between life and death, between memory and oblivion.

   

  리뷰 _ 허정식
  이 단편은 집 안에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 오브제들을 의인화해서 가족에 얽힌 과거의 기억을 재구성하는 작품이다. 문손잡이, 그림물감, 인형, 커피원두를 가는 기계가 주인공 자신, 엄마, 여동생, 아버지 역할을 한다. 얼핏 유치해 보이는 설정이지만 의외로 꼼꼼하게 계산된 시나리오는 설득력 있고 코믹해서 관객의 얼굴에 잔잔한 미소가 번지게 만든다. 또한 이러한 설정이 이어지는 슬픈 추억을 좀 더 관조적으로 바라볼 수 있게 만드는 힘도 가지고 있다. 채플린 영화에서처럼 슬픔을 코믹과 함께 표현할 때 느껴지는 정서적 깊이를 다시 한 번 느끼게 하는 작품.

  Review _ HUR Jeong-sic
  This short personifies common objects at home and reconstructs past memories tangled with family. A door knob, a paint, a doll, and a coffee bean grinder play a role of the hero himself, mom, sister, and dad. At first glance this setting looks childish, but it is made by surprisingly meticulously calculated scenario to make the audience smile. Also this setting has a power to make people look at the following sad memories in a more contemplative way. Like the Chaplin movie, this film expresses sorrow with humor reminding us of its emotional depth.

  Synopsis
  <Dawn> is a psychological drama exploring the bond of triplets, broken at birth, that sends surviving siblings Jude and Madison on an intimate quest to fill their sense of loss, grief and loneliness. On their 36th birthday, the missing link in their trinity lays just around the corner…

  스테디 캠의 롱 샷이 매끄럽게 집 안으로 들어가고 한 남자 앞에서 멈춘다. 남자는 고개를 돌려 카메라 쪽을 응시한다. 두 번째 샷은 그가 바라보고 있는 것을 비추지만, 카메라도 그 무엇도 없다. 첫 장면에서 보여준 바와 같이 전체의 영화는 ‘부재’라는 패턴위에서 이루어지고, 아름답지만 경계선에 부딪히고 마는 어린아이 같은 쌍둥이의 이루어질 수 없는 사랑이야기다.

  A long, fluid steady cam shot enters a home and stops nearby a man: feeling a presence, he turns his head and looks towards the camera. A second shot then reveals what his eyes are seeing, but instead of the camera, there's nothing. As shown by that opening, absence is the pattern on which the whole film is constructed, a beautiful yet borderline incestuous story of the love between two child-like, symbiotic twins.

  스테파니 자리 Stephanie Zari

  캘리포니아 출신의 스테파니 자리는 15년 전 토론토에서 여배우로서 영화에 뛰어들었고 3년 전부터 작가와 감독으로 활동하고 있다. 런던에 위치한 Met Film School을 졸업하면서 발표한 첫 번째 단편영화 <Marigolds>는 2010년과 2011년에 걸쳐 각종 영화제와 비평에서 동시에 좋은 평을 얻었다. 일체의 지원을 받지 않고 제작된 이 영화는 런던 단편영화제, 칸 영화제 단편부문 2011, BBC Film Network 등 15개 이상의 영화제에서 상영되었다. 이 영화는 또한 “Underwire Festival”에서 감독상을 안겨주었고 2010 런던 단편영화제에서는 “Little White Lies megazine”, “Best for Film”, “Varsity Online”과 같은 매체의 비평가들로부터 찬사를 받았다. <Dawn>은 스테파니 자리의 세 번째 단편이자 첫 장편영화의 출발점이 될 것이다.

  Californian born Stephanie started her film making journey as an actress in Toronto over 15 years ago and has been writing and directing for the screen the last three years. <Marigolds> was Stephanie's first short film upon graduating from The Met Film School in London and achieved both festival and critical success during 2010/2011, screening at over 15 festivals off it’s own merit (unsupported by any film programming schemes) including London Short Film Festival, Cannes Court Metrage 2011, BBC Film Network. It won her the Best Director award at the Underwire Festival and praised by critics during the 2010 London Short Film Festival by Little White Lies magazine, Best for Film and Varsity Online. <Dawn> is Stephanie's third short film and a taster for her first feature film.

  어느 여름날 젊은 교사 줄리아 호퍼는 열한 살 반의 나이인 아이들과 소풍을 간다. 걸어가는 동안 안드레아는 알렉산더가 자신에게 관심이 있는지 알아보려 하지만, 사실은 알렉산더의 친한 친구 마르셀이 그녀와 가까워지고 싶어 한다. 알렉산더는 호퍼를 골탕 먹이려고 무리를 떠나 혼자 숲으로 향한다.

  Synopsis
  A summer day, Julia Hofer, a young teacher, goes on an excursion with her class of eleven-year-olds. During the hike Andrea tries to find out if Alexander has any feelings for her, while Alexander‘s best friend Marcel is the one who really wants to be close her. Alexander, wanting to teach Miss Hofer a lesson, decides to leave the group and make his own way through the forest.

  유년기의 혼란과 교실을 벗어난 등산은 이 영화에서 강력한 조합을 이룬다. 어린 배우들이 앞으로 닥칠 내재된 감정의 소용돌이를 직면할 준비가 되어 있지 않은 인물들을 매우 사실적이고 인상 깊게 그려낸다.

  Pre-pubescent turmoil and out-of-school mountain hiking make for a powerful mix in this film where the impressive young actors portray some very life-like characters which are not yet equipped to face the conflicting emotions that they feel boiling down under their skins.

  미카엘 크루메나허 Michael Krummenacher 

  1985년 스위스 슈비츠주에서 출생. 2005년 뉴욕으로 가서 콜롬비아대학 영화제작심화 워크숍에 참여한다. 2006년 뮌헨의 TV영화대학에 입학한다. 2009년 영화제작회사 Passanten Film produktion를 공동설립하고 자신의 첫 번째 장편영화 <이 산을 넘어서(Hinter Diesen Bergen)>를 연출했다. 이 영화는 로테르담 국제영화제를 비롯하여 다수의 영화제에서 상영되었다. 단편영화 <모두가 여기 있을 때>는 2012년 독일 단편영화상에서 후보로 선정되었다.   
  Michael Krummenacher was born 1985 in Schwyz, Switzerland. In 2005 he left for New York City to take part in Columbia University’s Film making Intensive Workshop. In 2006 he was accepted as a directing student at University of Television and Film Munich (HFF München). In 2009, Krummenacher co-founded the production company Passanten Film produktion and directed his first feature-length film <Hinter Diesen Bergen(Beyond These Mountains)> that was shown at several film festivals including the International Film Festival Rotterdam. His short <When everybody’s here(Wenn alle da sind)> was nominated for the German Short Film Award in 2012.
