• 아빠의 트럭 My Father's Truck

  시놉시스
  <아빠의 트럭>은 하루 동안 학교를 빠지고 아빠의 미니버스에서 아버지를 돕는 10살 소녀 마이비에 관한 성장영화이자 로드무비이다. 베트남 북부 시골을 배경으로, 소녀는 교실 밖 세상이 어떤 곳인지를 알게 되면서 가혹한 현실과 도덕성의 그림자에 직면한다.

  Synopsis
  is a part coming-of-age part road film about 10-year-old Mai Vy as she skips school one day to help her father with his passenger truck for hire. Set along the countryside of Northern Vietnam, Mai Vy is soon confronted with shades of morality and some harsh realities as she learns how things, outside the classroom, really are.

   

  연출의도
  어렸을 때, 부모님과 브라질 시골지역을 자주 여행했었다. 그 때 자동차, 기차, 버스의 창밖으로 펼쳐진 활기찬 풍경, 사람들, 흥미로운 이야기들에 매료되어 바라보았던 것을 기억한다. 그런 것들이 내 마음에 떠올랐다. 2011년 처음으로 베트남을 방문했을 때, 비슷한 놀라움을 느꼈다. 내 원래 의도는 세대 차이를 그리며 부자지간에 관한 이야기를 쓰는 것이었다. 하지만, 영화가 늘 그렇듯 계획대로 되지는 않았다. 나는 한 작은 소녀를 만났고 내 영화의 주인공에게 바랐던 모습들을 소녀에게서 발견했다. 
  나는 이 영화가 어린 시절의, 혹은 아직도 우리가 가끔씩 느끼는 궁금증과 환상의 감정을 잡아내어 그렸기를 바란다.

  Director’s Statement
  Growing up, I travelled around the countryside of Brazil with my parents regularly. And I recall looking out through the windows of cars, trains, and buses – fascinated with the vivid scenery, the people, and the interesting stories which came to my mind.
  When I visited Vietnam for the first time in 2011, I felt a similar sense of wonder. My original intention was to write a story about a father-son relationship, which also portrayed a generational dimension. But, as is often the case in film making, things don’t always go as planned. And I met a little girl who had a huge effect on me. She was sensitive and tough at the same time, and these were qualities I wanted for the protagonist of my film.
  Hopefully it captures and portrays the sense of childhood wonder and fascination, which we all still feel from time to time.

  이 영화는 베트남의 지방도시를 배경으로 초등학생 딸과 트럭운전사인 아버지의 반나절 동행과 벌어진 일을 다루고 있다. 초등학생 딸은 남자아이들의 거친 장난과 괴롭힘에 학교를 다니기 싫어하고, 하루 동안만 아버지의 트럭에 동승하여 도와주기로 한다. 사람들에게 요금을 받는 일을 하던 딸은 귀뚜라미를 주는 어느 아주머니의 속임수에 빠져 요금을 모두 잃고 아버지에게 야단맞기도 하고, 아버지가 태운 불법 도축업자의 개 도축 현장을 목격하고는 강아지 한 마리와 함께 울면서 도망친다. 영화는 위협과 악의로 가득 찬 세상 속에 갇혀버린 순진무구한 어린 딸과 이를 안쓰럽게 지켜보는 아버지의 교차된 시선으로 구성된다. 도이모이정책 이후 물질주의와 자본주의의 후유증을 앓고 있는 베트남 사회에 대한 감성적 은유로도 읽힌다.

  This story is about a half-day trip accompanied by a elementary school daughter and her father, a truck driver, in a provincial city of Vietnam. The daughter refuses to go to school because of rough boys' mischief and harassment and decides to help her dad riding on his truck just for one day. While she collects fares, she is cheated by a woman who gives her a cricket, loses all the money and is scolded by her dad. After she witnesses an illegal butcher slaughter a dog, she ran away crying with one dog. This movie is led by crossed perspectives of an innocent young daughter who is trapped in a world full of threat and evil and her father who is watching her with aching mind. In this movie you can see a metaphor for Vietnamese society which suffers from aftereffects of capitalism and materialism following Doi Moi policy.  

   

  감독 소개
  마우리씨오 오사키 Mauricio Osaki

  브라질 상파울로 출생. 상파울로 대학에서 영상예술 학사학위를 받은 후 단편영화 와 를 제작, 둘 다 “Festival de Brasilia”에서 감독상을 수상했다. 플라비아 게라 감독과 함께 런던에서 제작한 는 “It's All True국제영화제” 에서 “특별언급” 되었다. 또한 상파울로 시장의 “우리 이웃의 역사(History of our Neighborhoods)프로젝트”의 일부로 Mirian Ou감독과, 브라질 독립영화 프로듀서인 Sara Silveira와 함께 다큐멘터리 영화 를 연출하게 되었다. 현재는 뉴욕대 싱가포르캠퍼스 Tisch 예술학교에서 석사과정을 밟고 있으며 브라질에서 첫 번째 장편영화를 준비 중이다.

  Mauricio Osaki was born in São Paulo, Brazil. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Arts at the University of São Paulo, his short films and were both awarded “Best Director” at the Festival de Brasilia. His London-based documentary , in collaboration with director Flavia Guerra, received Honourable Mention in the 'It's All True' International Film Festival. He was selected by the Mayor of São Paulo, as part of the “History of our Neighborhoods” project, to direct the documentary with Mirian Ou and main independent film producer in Brazil, Sara Silveira. He is currently completing his MFA in Film making at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia in Singapore, and is working on his first feature film to be shot in Brazil.

  2차 대전 중 나치의 러시아 점령기에 벌어졌던 실제 사건을 바탕으로 한 작품. 전쟁의 참상과 음악을 모티프로 휴머니즘에 관한 문제를 과도한 감정이입 없이 절제된 연출로 표현했다. 아카이브 화면과 연출 장면의 절묘한 병치는 역사적 사건과 상상적 내러티브의 유기적 관계를 구축한다.

  This story is based on actual incidence during Nazi occupation of Russia in World War II. Restrained direction without excessive empathy describes humanism issues with the motif from the horror of the war and music. The perfect juxtaposition of archive screen and scene direction constructs relevant relations between historic events and imaginary narrative.

  동성애를 소재로 한 영화들이 많이 나왔기에 그에 대해 새롭게 해석하거나 표현할 여지가 많이 줄었음에도 이 영화는 내재적이고 절제된 인물들의 관계, 담백하고 세련된 이미지의 은유를 통한 내러티브의 반영이 뛰어나다. 동성애에 대한 소재에서 나아가 각 인물 내면의 성찰을 섬세하고 빛나는 연출력을 통해 보여준다.

  There are a lot of gay and lesbian films released, so there may not be something new in this sort of genre. , however, has an excellent narrative which shows internal and understated relations between characters through the metaphor of fresh and refined images. Besides homosexuality, it shows the inner introspection of each character with detailed and commendable directing.

  아르노 뒤페 Arnaud Dufeys

  벨기에 리에주에서 3월 31일 출생. 고등학교 졸업 직후 IAD(Institut des Arts de Diffusion, 벨기에, 루벵라네브)에서 영화를 공부했다. <아톰>은 졸업 작품이며, 현재까지 30여개의 국제영화제에서 공식 경쟁작품으로 선정되었다.

  서른 살의 김지미는 어느 날 아침 친구들과 시덥지 않은 음담패설을 나누다가 우연히 접속한 포르노 사이트에서 자신이 등장하는 동영상을 발견한다. 설상가상으로 주위의 남자들은 이미 그 동영상에 대해 알고 있었다는 사실을 발견한 지미는 곤혹에 빠진다.

  Synopsis
  One morning, Ji-mi find outs that a private video of her is posted on a pornography site. What’s worse is that all her male friends already know about it. Ji-mi spends the day talking to ex-boyfriends and other ex-bedroom acquaintances. After a near death experience, she wakes up to a new morning.

  남자들 운운하는 여자들과 여자들 운운하는 남자들. 서로를 두려워하고 사랑하며 오해하면서 뒤끝도 남기는 빈틈이 많은 존재들이다. 그 빈틈들을 극단적인 상황에 빗대어 가볍게 풀어보고자 했다

  Director’s Statement
  Women talk about men and men talk about women. They are both fragile beings afraid of each other, fascinated by each other, and easily hurt by each other. This film is a light approach on the ridicules and irony of relationships.
  

  리뷰 _ 김남석
  자칫하면 심각할 수 있는 소재를 경쾌한 리듬으로 조율한 작품으로, 이야기를 풀어내는 방식이 흥미롭고 카메라가 안정적인 구도를 취하고 있는 점이 장점이다. 배우들의 연기도 비교적 안정적이고 서사의 진행도 차분하나, 결말을 다소 보강할 필요가 있다.

  Its story could be shown serious but this film managed to tune it rhythmically. The way it unfolds the story is interesting and the camera takes stable composition, which are good points. Actors and the progress of the narrative are also good. But the ending seems to need more beef up.
