  마치 영화 속에 등장하는 동화가 한 남자의 인생을 이끈 마법 같은 설정이 매력적이다. 우리가 인식하는 현실 또한 현실 밖의 영역에서 바라보면 하나의 이야기이자 판타지이다. 어떻든.. 비극을 극복하지 않은 삶이란 있는가? 그런 삶의 비극을 은유와 모호성을 수반한 동화 속 스토리와 얼개를 엮어 현실을 몽환적 판타지라는 인상적인 극으로 옮겨놓는다.

  The setting that a fairy tale in a film leads a man's life is magical and attractive. The reality we recognize could be a fantasy if someone saw outside reality zone. Whatever... Is there any life that dosen't overcome a tragedy? This film wove fairy tales which have the metaphor and ambiguity of tragedy and reality and made a impressive dreamlike fantasy.

  시놉시스
  기도와 의식이 시간의 흐름을 나타내는 온두라스의 산중에 한 장소가 있다. 늙은 여자는 맨발로 산을 걸어 다닌다. 남자는 천사와 함께 죽어간다. 혼령들은 조상들의 목소리이다. 지구를 팔기보다는 보호하려는 작은 토착마을의 용기가 나타나 있다.
  Synopsis
  There is a place between the mountains of Honduras where rituals and prayers mark the passage of time. An elder woman walks barefoot in the mountain. A man dies accompanied by an angel. Spirits are the voices of ancestors and the courage of a small indigenous community that will rather take care of the Earth than sell it.
  

   

  연출의도
  “영혼이 가장 우선이다.” 우리가 영화를 촬영했던 렝카 공동체의 나이 많은 치유사 Pascualita과 함께 보낸 매일의 시간은 이 말과 함께 각인되어 편집하는 내내 마음에 떠올랐다. 영혼은 땅과 자신의 공동체를 보살피는 것을 가장 기본 가치로 두고 있으며, 오늘은 한 개인 내일은 어쩌면 한 집단에 대한 죽음의 위협에 관해 노래의 지혜로 응답한다. 이야기의 요지는 우리가 이러한 가르침을 전달하게 하는 것이다.  
  Director’s Statement
  “First of all comes spirituality”. Every day spent with Pascualita, the elder healing woman of the Lenca community where we filmed, was imprinted by these words that during editing came to mind time and again. A spirituality based on taking care of the land and of one's own community, that replies with the wisdom of the song on the threat of death, today individual, tomorrow perhaps, collective. A guide through that which is really important. The telling of this story meant to us trying to pass on this teaching.

  온두라스 산 속에서 살아가는 사람들. 그들의 삶 속엔 종교의식과 기도가 함께한다.
  맨발로 산 속을 누비며 일을 하는 여자, 죽음을 앞둔 남자, 사람들과 뒤섞여 살아가는 동물들. 맑은 풍경들을 바라보고 있으면 조용히 그 공간의 소리에 귀 기울여 지고 그들의 삶에 애정이 가기 시작한다. 여기를 살아가는 우리들과 사뭇 다른 방식의 삶을 지켜보는 기회를 가질 수 있는 작품이다.

  People who live in a mountain in Honduras. Religious ceremonies and prayers are in their lives. A barefoot woman going around the mountain, a man facing his death, and animals living together with people. If you looked at the crystal-clear landscape, you would naturally get to listen to the sounds of the space and love their lives. This film gives us a chance to look into a different way of life from ours.

  유카이 에비수노 Yukai Ebisuno, 라파엘라 만테가자 Raffaella Mantegazza
  유카이 에비수노는 1982년 이탈리아 출생으로 이탈리안 어머니와 일본인 아버지 사이에서 태어났다. 토리노 대학에서 영화제작 석사학위를 받은 후, 2009년 영화연극의 세트 디자이너로 활동을 시작했고, 이탈리아 다큐멘터리 영화 홍보단체인 Docume과 협업했다.
  라파엘라 만테가자는 1982년 이탈리아 출생으로 예술대학에서 사진과 시각예술을 전공한 후, 토리노대학에서 문화인류학과 민족학 석사학위를 받았다. 유카이 에비수노와 함께 사진과 다큐멘터리 감독 일을 하고 있다.

  Yukai Ebisuno(Italy, 1982) is the son of an italian mother and japanese father. After acquiring a MA in Film making at the University of Turin, he begins to work as set designer for flm and theater and in 2009 collaborates with the cultural association Docume, promoter of documentary flms in Italy.
  Raffaella Mantegazza(Italy, 1982) after studying Photography and Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, she gained a MA in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnography at the University of Turin.  They live and work together since 2007, dealing with photography and directing documentaries.

  시놉시스
  영어공부를 위해 미국으로 온지 얼마 안 되는 은서는 한국에 남겨진 아빠를 그리워한다. 꿈속에서 은서의 아빠는 은서에게 두려움을 극복하기 위해 기도를 하는 방법을 가르쳐준다. 은서의 엄마 서현은 은서가 반 친구들과 잘 어울리지 못하는 걸 알게 되자 미국인 친구들을 초대해서 생일 파티를 해 주고자 한다. 하지만 생일 초대 카드가 너무 유치한 나머지 은서는 친구들의 놀림을 받기에 이른다. 수치스러운 마음에 은서는 반항을 해보지만 어린 은서가 엄마를 이길 수 있는 방법은 없다.
  Synopsis
  Eun-seo who came to US misses her father back in Korea. In her dream, her father teaches her how to pray in order to overcome fear. As her mother, Seo-hyun, hears that Eun-seo does not get along well with her classmates, she decides to throw her American Birthday Party. Seo-hyun makes Eun-seo invite her friends but the invitation card that Seo-hyun made for her is too childish so her friends make fun of her. Embarrassed, Eun-seo rebels against her mother but she is too weak to win over her mother.

   

  연출의도
  우리는 왜 우리와 관련된 일에 이토록 무뎌진 것일까. 어찌 보면 유년시절 전쟁에 대한 두려움은 타자에 대한 애정과 사랑에 기반한 이타적 감수성이 발현되는 하나의 감각이었는지도 모른다. 나만이 아닌 세상을 향한 시선 두기. 어른이 된 우리는 그 감각을 잃었기 때문에 자신의 안위와 성공 이외의 일들에 대해 무덤덤한 표정을 짓고 있는 것이 아닐까. 그렇다면 어린 시절 느꼈던 전쟁에 대한 공포를 다시 상기시키는 것은 우리가 외면하고 있는 것들을 다시 ‘우리’의 문제로 끌어들일 수 있는 계기가 되지 않을까? 어른이 된 우리는 어릴 때와 비교하여 얼마나 예민하게 세상과, 그리고 타자와 만나면서 살고 있는 것일까? 영화를 통해 묻고 싶은 물음이다.
  Director’s Statement
  The fear of war during my childhood was very similar to the selfless sensibility that was based on love and affection toward ‘the other’;! having sympathy not only for myself, but for the people around me. Isn’t it because we lost these senses when we became adults and now we only care about our personal successes and the security while we ignore the rest? Then my attempt of reminding this fear from us could make us face the reality that we have forgotten? “Do we really care about the people like the way we used during our childhood? “I hope people can find the answer from this movie.

   

  리뷰 _ 김대황
  한국 국적을 가진 감독이 미국에서 제작한 <뉴클리어 패밀리>는 영어를 배우기 위해 아빠는 한국에 버려둔 채 미국으로 유학을 간 어린 소녀와 엄마의 반짝거리던 꿈의 스위치가 On에서 Off가 되는 과정을 사실적으로 묘사하고 있다. 공교롭게도 이 영화가 내세우고 있는 가상의 설정이 점점 우리가 살고 있는 대한민국의 상황이랑 흡사해지고 있다. 바로 북한과 핵이다. 이미 한반도 신뢰 프로세스라는 허울뿐인 정책의 첫 단추가 잘못 꿰어지고 있는 이 상황에서 4차 핵실험을 앞둔 북한과의 ‘치킨게임’의 종착역은 아마 어쩌면 이 영화에서처럼 전쟁이라는 이름으로 재현될지도 모른다. 과연 이 찢겨진 ‘핵가족’들의 종착역은 어디일까? 푸디토리움으로 잘 알려진 김정범 음악감독의 피아노 선율과 함께 울리는 소녀의 마지막 목소리를 들으며 구원의 빛이 스며들기를 읊조려보게 되는 영화. 
  Review (KIM Dae-hwang)
  , produced by a director with Korean nationality living in the US, realistically portrays the process that the switch of a young girl and her mom's shiny dream to learn English in the US, letting her father stay alone in Korea, turns from On to Off. The virtual setting of this movie happens to become more and more similar with the situation in Korea where we live. North Korea and Nuclear. In this situation where the inter-Korean trust process has already stepped off on the wrong foot from the first, the last stop of 'chicken game' with North Korea planning to a fourth nuclear test may be represented with a name of war just like this movie. Where is the last stop of this split 'nuclear family', indeed?  With the piano sound of music director, KIM Jeong-beom known as Pudditorium, and the last voice of the girl, this movie makes us intone that light of salvation comes through.

  권봉근 KWON Bong-keun
  대학교에서 노어 노문학을 전공한 그는 졸업 후 모스크바 시립 베르니사쥐 극장 상임연출가 김원석이 연출을 맡은 “명품극단”에서 일 년간 일하면서 <고골 3부작>에 조연출로 참여한다. 중앙대학교 첨단 영상대학원 재학기간 <빨간 프라이드>, <그 둘 사이>, <나눌 수 없는>의 3편의 단편영화를 연출하고, 정호중 감독의 <안녕? 허대짜수짜님!>의 연출부와 이응일 감독의 <불청객>의 촬영감독을 통해 다양한 현장 경험을 쌓게 된다.
  From 2006-2007, KWON Bong-keun served as an assistant director in theater company called “Myungpum” in order to understand actors. He worked closely with the professional actors for the stage at various theaters including National Theater of South Korea.
  In Chung-Ang University where he took directing class, he wrote and directed , and . He also expanded his experience by shooting an independent Sci-Fi feature film as the cinematographer.

  노자는 “하늘과 땅이 영원한 까닭은 자기 스스로를 위해 살지 않기 때문”이라고 말했다. 자연은 자기스스로를 뭔가를 덜하지만 인간은 자신을 위해 많은 것을 도모한다. 인간은 자연의 혜택에 감사하는 것 보다는 자연에 대한 약탈과 착취를 더 선호한다. 은 자연에 대한 인간의 약탈적 폭력과 이에 대한 자연스러운 응징을 간결하고 코믹하게 보여준 작품이다. 사냥꾼은 야생동물을 조준하지만 무너진 돌담에 묻히게 된다. 돌담에서 자신을 향한 총구를 통해 위기감은 더해지고 결국 인과응보의 결과에 도달한다.

  Lao-tzu says, "The heaven and the earth are eternal because they do not live for themselves". Mother nature dose less for herself but man dose more for himself. Man prefers plunder and exploitation of nature to appreciation. shows human predatory violence to the nature and her natural retribution humorously. A hunter aims at wildlife but is buried in a collapsed stone wall. Under the wall, he faces the muzzle toward him and the sense of crisis spreads, in the end, he is only reaping what he has sown.
