  시놉시스 Synopsis

  
  

  중학생 서은이는 부모님의 이혼 후 자주 만나지 못하는 엄마에게 서운하지만 티 내지 못한다. 그렇게 평소처럼 친구와 학교를 가던 어느 날, 자주 갔던 석대천에서 백조를 봤던 기억이 떠오르고 같이 있었던 친구에게 이야기하지만 둘은 서로를 이해하지 못한다.

  
  

   

  
  

  Seo-eun, a middle school student, is sad about not being able to see her mother often after her parent’s divorce but can’t show it. One day, on the way to school with her friend, as usual, she remembered seeing a swan at Seokdaecheon stream, where she often went, and told her friend.   나를 생각해서 해준 말이 상처가 된다. 감춘 건 아니지만 하지 않은 말도 상처일 수 있다. 어떤 말들은 마음하고 다르게 나와버려 상처를 주기도 한다. 영화는 부모님의 이혼 또는 불화라는 환경을 가진 두 소녀를 세심히 살핀다. 단짝이지만 생각과 성격이 서로 다르다. 거기에서 생겨나는 사건 속에 흐르는 미묘한 감정과 마음의 변화를 섬세하게 포착해 영화는 미덕을 획득한다. 산천초목이 생생한 여름의 햇볕 아래, 착하고 평범한 소녀들의 모습에서 각자의 10대시절을 꺼내볼지도 모르겠다. 한 사람이 본 걸 다른 한 사람은 기억 못해도, 석대천에 백조가 있는지 없는지 몰라도 뭐 어떤가? 중요한 건 함께 석대천에 가는 거고 소녀들의 우정이 지속되고 있다는 거다.

  The words spoken for me hurt me. Although not hidden, the unspoken words can hurt as well. Sometimes, our words can come out differently from our intentions and hurt others. The movie carefully examines two girls whose parents are divorced or at odds. They are best friends, but they have different thoughts and personalities. It is a movie that acquires virtue by delicately capturing subtle emotions and changes in mind that flow in the events that arise. Under the vivid summer sun of the mountain stream, you may even reminisce about your own teen years at the sight of these nice and ordinary girls. What does it matter if one person doesn’t remember what the other saw or doesn’t know if there were swans at Seokdaecheon Stream? The important thing is going to Seokdaecheon Stream together, and the girls' friendship continues.

  정인은 어머니와 함께 산다. 어머니는 시집 간 정인의 동생만 그저 안쓰럽게 여겨 정인을 서운하게 만들곤 한다. 그러나 어머니가 정인을 사랑하지 않는 건 아니다. 이런 면에선 정인도 같다. 다정한 말 한마디 어머니에게 건넬 줄 모르는 무뚝뚝한 성격이지만 툭 던지는 말 속에는 숨길 수 없는 사랑이 있다. 이 영화 곳곳에서 그런 것들이 발견된다. 가족의 또다른 이름은 애증일 것이다. 몹시 친밀하고 또 너무나 복잡하게 얽혀있는 이 관계에서 비롯되는 다양한 감정을 우리는 안다. 그리고 그것들은 배우 최희진의 짐짓 평온해 보이는 얼굴에 실려있으니, 영화에 그 이상 다른 설명은 필요하지 않다.

  Jeong-in lives with her mother. Mother always seems to be worried for her sister, who has been married, and makes Jeong-in feel sad. However, it is not that the mother does not love Jeong-in. In this respect, Jeong-in is the same. Although she has a blunt personality that does not know how to give a friendly word to her mother, there‘s a love that can’t be hidden in every word she says. Such things are found everywhere in this movie. Another name for a family would be a love-hate relationship. We already know the various emotions that arise from this relationship, which is extremely intimate and far too complicated.   생계를 위한 일은 고단하기 마련이다. 주인공에게도 마찬가지일 것이다. 하지만 배달을 하는 그의 생업을 좇는 이 단순한 이야기를 통해 영화가 전해주는 에너지는 유쾌하고 건강하기 그지없다. 주어진 삶을 충실하게 사는 태도, 연신 노래를 부르며 작은 즐거움을 만들거나 발견하는 모습, 사랑하는 사람들이 서로를 생각하는 마음. 그 앞에서 나도 모르게 미소짓고 흐뭇해진다. 영화는, 평범하지만 귀한 것들이 어떻게 스펙터클이 될 수 있는지 증명한다. 아내와 남편 둘이서 소박하게 뚝딱뚝딱 만든 게 분명한 이 영화는 대단한 목표나 기교 없이 단순하고 정직하게 마음을 두드린다. 삶과 세상을 긍정하기 힘든 어느 날, 이 영화를 떠올릴 것 같다.

  Working for a living is bound to be exhausting. This is true for the main character as well. But the energy the movie conveys through the simple story of following the protagonist’s life as a deliveryman is simply pleasant and healthy. The attitude of faithfully living one’s given life, continually singing songs to create or discover small joys, and lovers thinking about each other. I cannot help but smile with pleasure at that. The movie proved how ordinary but precious things could become spectacles. The movie, clearly made casually by a husband and wife, simply and honestly beats the heart without great goals or finesse. One day when it's hard to affirm life and the world, I think I'll think of this movie.
