  절름발이 남자 창호는 동인천역 인근 화수부두라는 곳에서 알츠하이머를 앓고 있는 어머니 순금과 함께 살고 있다. 두 사람은 허름한 마을에 살면서 생계를 꾸리기 위해 고군분투한다.

  
  

  매일 삼각김밥을 먹어야 할 정도로. 창호는 더 좋은 기회를 얻기 위해 풍선을 팔고 채용 대행업체를 방문하려 하지만 쉽게 구할 수 있는 것이 없다. 설상가상으로 집주인은 월말까지 집세를 내지 못하면 집에서 쫓아내겠다고 위협한다. 절망에 빠진 창호는 생을 마감할 생각을 하지만 희망을 놓지 않고 계속 일자리를 찾아 나선다. 어느 날 인력사무소에서 일하는 창호와 그의 친구 성규는 직장을 구하지 못한 후 점심을 먹기 위해 중국 식당에 들른다. 자장면을 먹던 중 성규는 아버지로부터 dvd를 가져다 달라는 전화를 받는다. 성규는 바빠서 주말에 가도 되냐고 묻는다. 아버지는 오늘 소포를 가지고 오라고 고집을 부리자 성규는 창호에게 소포를 배달해 달라고 부탁할 생각을 하게 된다.도움이 되는 친구의 부탁을 거절할 수 없었던 창호는 성규의 아버지가 사는 영흥도로 간다. 그곳에서 부업으로 문어를 사냥하는 성규의 아버지를 만난다. 두 사람은 썰물이 된 가운데 영흥도 갯벌에서 함께 문어를 잡는다. 성규의 아버지는 창호에게 “인생은 힘들지만 자연은 먹을 것이 있다”고 말하며 일자리를 제안하고 문어를 잡는다. 창호는 그 제안을 흔쾌히 수락하고 그날 밤 잡은 문어를 팔고 대가를 받는다. 집에 돌아온 엄마 순금과 따끈한 식사를 준비하고, 둘은 행복한 하루를 보낸다.

  
  

  Chang-ho, a man with a limp, lives with his mother Soon-geum who suffers from Alzheimer’s in a place called Hwasu Pier near Dongincheon Station. The two of them struggle to make ends meet as they live in a flophouse village and the coronavirus pandemic puts an even greater strain on their lives; to a point where they have to eat triangle kimbap every day. Chang-ho tries to sell balloons and visit the recruitment agency for a better opportunity, but nothing is readily available. To make matters worse, their landowner threatens to kick them out if they cannot pay their rent by the end of the month. Chang-ho falls into a state of despair and considers ending his life, but he refuses to lose hope and continues to search for a job. One day, Chang-ho and his friend, Seong-kyu, who works at the recruitment agency, stop by a Chinese restaurant for lunch after failing to land him a job. While eating jajangmyeon, Seong-kyu receives a phone call from his father who urges him to send over a special package. Seong-kyu is unable to go on the errand as he is busy, but replies he can go over on the weekend. His father insists on having the package today so Seong-kyu comes up with an idea to ask Chang-ho to deliver the package. Unable to refuse a request from a helpful friend, Chang-ho accepts and goes to Yeongheungdo, where Seong-kyu’s father lives. There, he meets Seong-kyu’s father who hunts octopus as a side hustle. The two of them catch octopus together in the mudflat of Yeongheungdo while the tides have gone in. Seong-kyu’s father tells Chang-ho that “life is hard but there is still something to eat in nature” and offers him a job, catching octopus. Chang-ho gladly accepts the offer and receives payment from the octopus they sell that night. Returning home, Chang-ho prepares a hot meal made of octopus instead of the usual triangle kimbap and the two spend a happy day together.
