• 다음 세대, The Next One

   

  터키의 한 도시에서 자동차 정비업을 하며 살고 있는 50대 남자는 세 명의 자식들에게 최선을 다하며 평등하게 키우고 있다고 자부한다. 하지만 문제는 자식들 모두가 다 그렇게 느끼는 것은 아니다. 그들 삶의 순간들 중 하루의 일과만을 끄집어내어 묘사하면서 그들 세대간의 미묘한 갈등을 섬세하게 포착해내고 있다. (홍영주)

   

   

  아베 마리아,Ave Maria

   

  요르단 강 서안 지구의 카르멜 수도원. 그 곳에서 평화롭게 금식 수련 중이던 수녀들의 일상에 갑작스럽게 이스라엘 가족이 난입한다. 그렇게 이 영화는 단 하나의 상황만을 설정하여 무거운 주제를 무겁지 않게 풀어가면서 그곳의 정치, 문화, 종교적인 복잡한 상황들의 면면을 떠올리게 만든다. (홍영주)

   

   

  황사병,Yellow Fieber

   

  옛날 어느 도시에 사람들이 행복하게 살고 있었다. 그러던 어느 날 의문의 황색 먼지가 도시를 뒤덮자, 모든 것이 바뀌게 된다. 황열병에 걸린 사람들은 집 안에 갇혀 시체처럼 살아갔고, 그들의 집 앞에는 환자가 있다는 표시로 종려나무를 심었다. 건강한 사람들은 서둘러 떠나갔고, 도시는 종려나무 숲으로 변했다. 그리고 아테네에도 황사가 몰려오기 시작한다. 영화는 역사와 신화, 과거와 현재, 실재와 허구를 오가며 질병에 걸린 도시의 징후와 증상을 실험적인 영상으로 포착한다. (김기만)

   

  인공위성,Spoetnik

   

  이 영화 속 세계에서 스푸트닉은 소련의 인공위성이 아니라 꼬치 종류의 먹거리다. 스푸트닉 가게에서 일하는 청년은 길 건너의 창녀와 사랑에 빠지게 된다. 청년과 창녀의 순박한 사랑이라는 고전적 레퍼토리를 화사한 세팅과 간결한 구도, 압축적 편집으로 산뜻하게 꿰었다. 그리고 그 위에 소스처럼 얹혀진 B급 영화의 정서는 이 영화를 더욱 독특하고 매력적으로 만든다. 그래서 이 영화는 스푸트닉의 맛있는 모양새와 닮아 있다. (김충국)

  월드컵의 열기가 한창인 브라질의 한 도시, 여섯 아이의 엄마인 루나는 수레를 끌며 거리의 재활용쓰레기를 줍는 카타도르다. 방학을 맞은 두 아들도 그녀를 따라다닌다. 거리는 경기를 응원하는 사람들의 기대와 함성으로 소란하지만 그 한편에는 축제와는 상관없는 삶이 있다. 철 프레임을 붙인 손수레, 키 보다 높이 쌓아 올린 폐지더미는 삶의 고단함을 가리키지만 영화는 루나의 표정과 아이들의 웃음소리로 더 많은 이야기를 펼친다. (김은정)

  Award winning director Basil Khalil was born and raised in Nazareth, to a Palestinian father and British mother. After studying for an MA at Screen Academy Scotland, in Edinburgh, Basil worked on a number of television productions in London. In 2011 Basil was featured by Screen International Magazine as one of 'top 10 Arab filmmakers to watch'. Basil currently resides in London where he is developing his debut feature screenplay.   Konstantina Kotzamani is a graduate student of Film Department of Fine Arts of Thessaloniki. Her short films have participated in several International Film Festivals and have gain several awards. Her film <Washingtonia> premiered in Berlinale 2014 in Ber- linale Shorts Competition program and was nominated for the Golden Bear. <Washingtonia> was awarded by the Greek Film Academy as the best Short Film 2014 and also Awarded by the European Film Academy with the EFA award in Gent International Film Festival. Konstantina Kotzamani was chosen to take part and present her work in Future Frames at the 50th Karlovy Vary Film Festival 2015. Her last short film <Yellow Fieber> will premiere in Locarno Film Festival 2015 in international competition Pardi di Domani.   Noël Loozen is a stand up kind of guy and he is pretty much considered an all-round photographer and filmmaker, and anyone will know, that in this day and age this is a very desirable combo. The magic of Noël really comes to play when you are in need of that next level layer in your image and film.
