  박물관에서 단체관람학생들을 대상으로 도슨트 알바를 하는 대학생 틴은 필리핀을 대표하는 그림 '스폴리아리움'을 설명하던 중 갑자기 끼어든 라프와 가벼운 언쟁을 벌인다. 그렇게 시작된 둘의 인연은 연인으로 발전하지만, 졸업 후 어떤 사건에 연루된 틴은 어쩔 수 없이 라프에게 이별을 통보한다. 오랜 시간이 지나고, 우연히 재회한 둘에게는 각자 연인이 있지만 예전의 감정과 현재의 상황 사이에서 혼란스러워한다. 사랑과 이별, 그리고 재회로 이어지는 전형적인 로맨스 장르의 영화로 개봉 당시 3억 필리핀 페소 이상의 흥행기록을 세우며 화제를 모은 작품. 하지만 <홀로/함께>의 가장 주목할 지점은 감독 앙트와넷 자다온과 제작사 블랙쉽(Black Sheep)이다. <타다나의 모든 것>으로 흥행과 비평에서 좋은 평가를 받았던 앙트와넷 자다온은 상업영화와 작가영화 사이에서 활동하며 필리핀영화산업에 새로운 활력을 불어넣고 있는 감독. 또한 메인디(Maindie)라고 부르는 주류 상업영화와 독립영화 사이에 위치한 웰메이드 영화가 최근 필리핀 박스오피스를 주도하고 있는데, 이제 문을 연 지 일년 남짓 된 제작사 블랙쉽이 그 흐름을 주도하고 있어 향후 활동이 주목된다.

  
  
  
  

  University student Tin, who works as part-time museum guide, ends up in a debate with Raf, who interrupts her explanation to a tour group about Spoliarium, a famous painting that represents the Philippines. The pair begin a romantic relationship, but due to an incident after Tin's graduation, they are forced apart and Tin bids Raf farewell. Many years later, they meet again by coincidence, this time both in separate relationships. Old feelings are sparked, leading to confusion and frustration in this film that features all the hallmarks of romance: love, break up, and reunion. Upon release, Alone/Together drew immediate attention by setting box office records; the film went on to gross more than 300 million Philippine pesos. But it is most notable as a collaboration of director Antoinette Jadaone and production studio Black Sheep. Jadaone received box office success and critical acclaim for That Thing Called Tadhana, and is known for rejuvenating Philippine cinema with her work directing films that straddle the line between commercial and independent cinema. These mainstream/indie crossover efforts, dubbed "maindie," are currently leading the Philippine film industry and Black Sheep is at the head of this trend.
